From Fellow Arkansan and Amazon.com Reviewer Bill Allison
Dear Mr
Shipp,
I'm a huge fan of your music and I love the stuff you did with Billy Bob
on The Edge of the World. It's pretty phenomenal and I just
ordered your album this morning. I just listened to a sample of If
You Had a Soul and it's excellent. I've been anticipating that
song since I heard some of it in the Bravo Profile of Billy Bob.
I'm an Arkansas boy myself, originally
from a little ole town called Hamburg and I'm now living in a
small Missouri town called Bolivar. I just wanted to let you know
that much like Johnny Cash influenced you, You and Billy Bob have had a
very similar impact on me. He has been a major influence in my
life and writing and you have pushed me to pick up the guitar
again. You truly have a style that's all your own. I regret
missing you guys on tour this year, but hopefully I'll have that chance
again. Anyway, Just a big thank you from one Arkansas boy to
another and hopefully I'll catch up with you one tour this year.
Please tell Billy Bob thanks too, if you don't mind.
Sincerely,
Bill
Allison
P.S. What ever
happened to the version of Emily that ya'll cut at Ocean Way in
Nashville? It was excellent. Will it ever be released?
Just curious.

MY FAVORITE
IS Blue Malibu...that should be a HIT what a great song!!!
CD insert with LYRICS excellent! Ask me about Hook Line
titling sometime... awright Touch of gospel influence in background
vocals cool inventive ideas laced in the production...very cool
excellent use of organ nizzzze and dig the drums yep they set the pace
and provide staging for
well placed Guitar leads and full texture chording to show out.
Big city underground groove with a backwoods rockin' beat...I like it
like that! If you like Lou
Reed and Bruce Springsteen you'll keep this CD on top. Electric and
Acoustic guitar talent here with soul touching lyrics.
Voodoo in Tallulah...1st listen...impressions...Contemporary Rock
Blues with a unique twist and sound good lead and smooth voice vocals
remind me of BFGish like the beat and groove.
Favor...1st listen Voice is very Lou Reedish a fav sound of
mine...so I'm biased here.
Feelin' Kinda Crazy... Rock and roll it over to some light
poprockabilly.
Entrada...Fav acoustic classical feel. Most impressive.
Blue Malibu...Outstanding lyrics, "23 years I came back for
you..."
Staring At The Wall....YEAH That opening gravel voice ROCKS I
could go for a whole song like this...I'm inspired dance to this one
here it comes again!! Guitar ROCKS here.
Drowning Soul - Guitar working here BEST ROCK sound on the axe.
Messing With My Heart - HEAVY GUITAR HERE BEST LEAD too...like
the girl here. Umph in the vocals as well...ooohhhhhh girls...very Lou
Reedish I LIKE IT.
Act Like This - Yeah poprockabilly ... gritty vocals here with a
hiss to ‘em nice dance groove. Awright down on it.
If You Had A Soul -
puttin' a country rock bend on this one.
Voices - Organ and JFK child whispering ... DEEP and beautiful
incredible musicianship on this song. Timing for this subject coming
back up is meaningful hmmmm.... spookie...Eeriee - Soul search
A mystery track?? This is
so pretty acoustic talent very impressive.
As you can see I was just gearing up here on this 1st listen to grab
some thoughts, perhaps can sink my teeth into it after life settles
down. HOPE you enjoyed some of this feedback?? All in all Michael I know
I'm going to get into this CD more and more...I'll send some thoughts
later...and I'm already ON IT for getting the word out ...!!
ARooooUUUOooooo !! YOU ARE gifted in expressing the FEELINGS ... gifted
in musical expression from the soul...Rock IT dere Roosterboy!! Got to
get back at here ...sometimes FIRST listens tell lots though. : )

Dear Michael R. Shipp:
Boy, I'm here to spread the gospel of your genius! I love The
Adventures of Roosterboy, every single cut! Were that I
could make Voodoo In Tallulah my own, personal theme song.
Lord have mercy!
Promise me if we ever meet that we can take a cruise through the bayou in that blue Malibu of yours.

Got this in the ol' inbox today . . . I've heard Michael's new album
and this
is no BS, B.G. chipped in some guitar magic on this one. If you
are into
the swamp blues rock, go to the web site below and listen to some MP3s,
in particular Voodoo In Tallulah, the 1st cut on the album, I think is up
there
and has achieved a very impressive "36C" rating.
Have mercy,
